California, Here We Come!

The travel arrangements have been made, the documents, lanyards and computers have been shipped, our bags are packed (mostly) and we're ready to go. Conference is just three days away!

The ParishSOFT Team has been planning and preparing for this event the entire year and we're excited it is finally here. Twenty "blue shirts" will descend on the Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort to host the conference. Some of us fly out of Michigan tomorrow to make on-site preparations in Anaheim. The rest will join us on Sunday afternoon and will help us kick off the Conference with a reception on Sunday night. Monday we embark on three days of learning what it means to build engaged churches.

If you're joining us, we can't wait to see you!

See Who's Speaking in Anaheim

We've got a great line up of keynote speakers and workshop presenters at our 2011 Conference in Anaheim. Clergy and staff leaders from the church and the executives and staff of ParishSOFT team up to deliver 41 workshops in 10 different tracks

Meet the Speakers: there are 26 parish and diocesan leaders presenting. See their photos and read their bios on the speakers page.

Meet the Staff: we're bringing 21 staff members to conference this year - look for the blue shirts! Staff photos and bios can be found on the staff page.

Check out the Workshops: Our complete workshop listing can be found here. We have them segmented into Parish, Diocesan and Priests' workshops.

Conference Trailer Video

OK, so the ParishSOFT Conference isn't a movie.  But if it were, the trailer might look something like this!

Catch The Wave | Building an Engaged Church

That's the theme of this year's conference.  But why was it chosen?  To answer that question, allow us to employ a surfing analogy.

Surfing is far from a passive experience. It requires complete engagement of mind and body to attempt to get up on a wave and ride it into shore. Your reward for all that hard work is an exhilarating experience - a thrill ride only nature can provide! Yet many who come to the beach never venture into the water. They don't even wade, let alone surf.

A parallel can be made with serving God and becoming engaged in the life of the church. Many sit in the pews as if under a beach umbrella, soaking up the environment and observing the few who lead and serve. As church leaders, it is both our opportunity and our responsibility to build the wave of engagement! We must passionately model a life of service and then invite others to get "on board.”

The Apostle Paul declared in Romans 12, "For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them...."  But getting that one body to actually develop and utilize those different gifts can be quite a challenge!

Technology can be a powerful tool in the hands of church staff to communicate with and organize parishioners for the ministry of the church.  By better understanding how to leverage technology, church staff and leaders can facilitate a community that is using the various gifts, thereby becoming more deeply engaged in loving and serving one another and being a blessing to their community.

Our hope is that this year's ParishSOFT Conference will further assist church clergy, leadership and staff in developing the technological aptitude to lead engaged churches.

The mission of ParishSOFT is to see people connected to the Church and her Lord, Jesus Christ. That's why we create products that help people catch the wave of what God is doing in and through His Church in the 21st century.
