Theme: Go and Make Disciples

“ … too many churches focus exclusively on gathering. They concentrate the energies of the parish on gathering for worship, prayer, education, and social life, giving little weight to sending… If we are to have gathering and sending, we must begin with sending.”
- Fr. Robert Rivers, From Maintenance to Mission

This year, we focus on the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19). As the Church, our mission is to “Go and Make Disciples,” but how do we do this in the parish? How do we equip our parishes for this mission?

Living “The Joy of the Gospel” - Kelly Wahlquist
The first step toward making disciples is learning to live out “The Joy of the Gospel.” Kelly Wahlquist’s keynote will explore fulfilling our vocation to evangelize in light of the model disciple—the Blessed Virgin Mary—and the Magnificat. We will take a look at how we can evangelize joyfully and share our faith as Mary did.

7 Keys for Faithfully and Fruitfully Sharing Your Faith - Thomas Smith
With the joy of the Gospel in mind, Thomas Smith, will remind us to embrace our baptismal call to be faithful witnesses of the Word. Thomas was a Protestant minister who was received into the Catholic Church in 1996. As a repeat guest on Catholic radio and sought after speaker for missions and conferences, Smith will reveal seven keys for fearlessly, faithfully, and fruitfully sharing Faith to a world longing for Christ.

Mobilizing Your Parish for Mission - Fr. Brendan McGuire
How do we move from individually sharing our faith to incorporating evangelism into parish life? As Fr. Rivers points out, we must learn not only to gather, but to send. With “sending” in mind, how do we engage parishes? Fr. Brendan McGuire will discuss mobilizing and equipping parishes to “Go and Make Disciples.”

“The parish is the presence of the Church in a given territory, an environment for hearing God’s word, for growth in the Christian life, for dialogue, proclamation, charitable outreach, worship and celebration. In all its activities the parish encourages and trains its members to be evangelizers.”
- Pope Francis, Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium

One of our main goals at ParishSOFT is to empower parishes and dioceses to better mobilize for mission. With tools that help you engage and communicate, we partner with you to “Go and Make Disciples.” We look to the future, excited to see where the New Evangelization will lead the Church.
